Marty Johnson Junior Prop / Hooker Hard charging Marty Johnson was voted this week's Warrior in part because of his indefatigable work rate. The Hooker worked as hard on attack as he did on defense with numerous positive grade tackles and line-breaking carries to his credit against an opponent of formidable physical stature. Marty is married and hails from Grantsville, UT. He is a recent addition to the Ute rugby program, having recently transferred to the U nursing program from Utah State University. Marty is a tremendous student of the game and in constant pursuit of development. He has grown impressively over the past 6 weeks as a rugby player. We look forward to seeing how far he can go. Gabe Ruflin Senior 8 Man All American Gabe Ruflin was awarded the Warrior Spear for his outstanding play against the Lobos. Gabe proved once again why his peers look up to him with several line-breaking carries to his credit. He also defended with solid pressure and presence, putting a tackle technique clinic on full display. Relentless, tireless, and a bit edgy - Gabe is one player the opposition must account for on every phase. We are pleased to introduce Gabe Rufflin as the University Federal Credit Union Warrior of the Week vs New Mexico. Caleb Meyer Junior Flanker Against the Colorado Buffaloes, Caleb did just about everything except kick for points. The Utes fielded several new players, some of whom may have been a little lost were it not for Caleb's helpful and exhaustive instruction. He tackled well, rucked well, organized well, communicated well, and in between all of that, managed to squeeze in his second hat trick in as many weeks. The Flanker/Lock/Prop has a unique way of remaining intense while still cracking a few jokes to keep things balanced. We are pleased to introduce Caleb Meyer as the University Federal Credit Union Warrior of the Week vs Colorado. Kelsin Pupunu Freshman Center / Fullback Ute freshmen are proving that they intend to be a force to be reckoned with for years to come as Kelsin Pupunu becomes the third freshmen in a row, and fourth on the year, to be honored by his teammates as Warrior of the Week. While Kelsin displays skills well beyond his years, perhaps his greatest asset is his game sense. He sees and interprets the field well and creates and manipulates space very effectively. Already having represented the USA as a Men's Junior Collegiate All-American, we expect to see Kelsin proudly wear red, white, and blue many more times down the road. Brent Beales Freshman Lock For the second game in a row, a freshman Lock has been named the University Federal Credit Union Warrior of the Week. Brent is in his first year of rugby. He comes from primarily a basketball and volleyball background, and brings athleticism, intensity and a laser focus to the rugby pitch. Against a UVU team filled with a number of big, strong, good athletes Brent never backed down. His meteoric rise has been nothing short of impressive. We are pleased to introduce Brent Beales as the University Federal Credit Union Warrior of the Week vs UVU  The Warrior of the Week is awarded to the Ute who plays with singular strength and courage. Ben Jones Freshman Lock Against UCLA Ben was challenged at halftime by Coach Randell to elevate his game to a new standard. He answered the call. Ben fought through burning lungs to put himself exactly where he needed to be to help his team to a 49-8 victory. He scored two tries, made several positive grade tackles and rucks and simply never seemed to slow down. We are pleased to introduce Ben Jones as the University Federal Credit Union Warrior of the Week vs UCLA  The Warrior of the Week is awarded to the Ute who plays with singular strength and courage. He not only plays, but changes the game and inspires others to a higher standard. 
Gabe Rufflin Junior 8 Man All American Gabe Rufflin was awarded the Warrior Spear for his courage and consistency in the face of adversity against Cal. Regardless of any circumstances on the field, Gabe kept his steel gaze focused forward. He lifted his teammates, led by example, and showed those around him what it means to have a long range view. Gabe doesn't get knocked off course, he just brings the fire every day. We are pleased to introduce Gabe Rufflin as the University Federal Credit Union Warrior of the Week vs Cal. Chad Gough Junior Hooker Against Saint Mary's Chad took the Utes on his strong shoulders and carried them. The All American covered the field making big play after big play. His attack, defense and set piece play were all of the highest order. We are pleased to introduce Chad Gough as the University Federal Credit Union Warrior of the Week vs Saint Mary's. Levi Hunt Freshman Flanker Against Dixie State Levi stood tall among his peers. He displayed an unstoppable motor, did all of the little things that don't show up on a stat sheet, and played fearless rugby. It's unique that a freshman claim this honor from upperclassmen, but in this case Levi was the unanimous choice...not just from his own team, but from the opponent as well.
